I use the same rules every year to make sure that my little ones know immediately how to listen to a speaker or a reader. We practice daily and refer back to the chart. The visuals are ESSENTIAL- especially for pre-readers and for second language students. Many of my little ones are English speaking and rely on these visuals to support the unfamiliar language that I am using with them.
